How do couriers find return loads?

Most couriers find return loads by saving their regular lanes on a load exchange and getting an alert the moment a matching load is posted, rather than by refreshing a board.

The old way was ringing round contacts or watching a board all afternoon. That works until you are driving, which is most of the day.

Lane alerts turn it around. You save the runs you actually do, for example LE to Manchester, and the board pings you by push and email the second something matching lands. You quote from the cab in about twenty seconds.

The second half is being quick. On most exchanges the first credible quote wins a good share of the work, so the alert matters more than the browsing.
