What is a POD in haulage?

A POD is proof of delivery: the signed or photographed document showing the goods arrived, who received them and when. It is what triggers payment and what protects you in a claim.

Without a POD you have no evidence the job was done, which is why most payment disputes come down to missing paperwork rather than missing goods.

A usable POD shows the delivery address, the date and time, a printed name and signature or a clear photo of the goods in place, and any damage noted at the point of delivery.

On HaulageBoard the driver photographs the POD from the phone at delivery, it is stored against the load, both sides get a copy by email, and it is what releases the money.
